psoriasis update

I have been in my UV box for about two weeks. I didn't live in it of course. I only stay in there for a minute and eight seconds. There is a really nice man who helps me push the buttons. Here are some pictures of how I am looking. I don't know if you can tell but my psoriasis is much lighter.

I found out today that Heather's brother-in-law, Joe, also has psoriasis. His doctor told him that the best way to take care of outbreaks on his head was to shave his hair and expose his scalp to the sun. If he has to do that, maybe I could make him some cool doo rags, too! I can tell that you are doing much better. I hope it isn't too itchy and uncomfortable. I know that you will have even more improvement when the weather warms up. Maybe we should kidnap you and bring you to California! In the meantime, hang in there, and keep us posted on your hunting skills and your new Turkish pen pal.

You're still just as handsome as ever! I'm glad the treatments are working for you. You're such a trooper!

My name is SrA Flicker I am currently doing an overseas tour in Germany and then on to the middle east. I want you to know that when I was younger in middle school and high school for some reason my entire body broke out in the exact type of Psoriasis that you have. I did the UV treatments just like you, and I used a few different lotions. It took a couple years but my Psoriasis is entirely healed no scars or anything. Keep your head up and follow god, your skin is beautiful and people like you keep people like me doing the job I do every day over here in deployed locations.

P.S. your magic trick was awesome!

Hi Jake,
My name is Lari Ann and my little boy's name is Braydon. He's 9. I found your blog on Google. I think he has the same type of psoriais as you. He hasn't been to the dermatologist yet, but I think they look exactly the same. I'm hoping that the doctor can help him. I will ask about the UV treatment that you get. I would like to show him your pictures tomorrow so that he can see there is a little boy just like him. He is a lot like you. He was in the Cub Scouts and made a Pine Wood Derby car. He also has a sister named Abby. I hope that your light will help you get better. I think you are such a handsome boy, just like my little boy. Take care and enjoy your summer.

I've had psoriasis on 90% of my body since age 5. It was real hard to deal with and I learned that people can be mean, but I also learned that God made me special for a reason.I have endured many challenges that made me strong and have been able to share with other people when most people would walk away.I've met so many good souls and I know you will understand that beauty is truly "within". We can walk, feed ourselves, and can enjoy life... we are lucky. Now at the age of 42 I respond to my own child when she asks "what is that on you ?" I say...it's ME :)
My word of advice...ignore the dumb people with their cruel words and realize you are better than them.Keep a chin up and let people show you how much they love you...and realize that you can be happy and have this disease..or more of "YOU".

Jake - try to avoid gluten - bread, pizza, pasta, wheat. See if this makes a difference. Your diet can have a huge effect on your skin. I have had psoriasis for 13 years and am currently not eating gluten, and I am noticing a difference in only one week. Long way to go though! Read up on Dr Pagano's diet.

Just another note...I'm sorry to say that all the UV treatment may have temporarily helped but now after being diagnosed with Melanoma...I would be very cautious as to not get sunburns.
I can no longer bask in the sun and now have another reason to visit the dermatologist frequently. I'm sorry to have to share this, but wish someone had advised me :)

I would try every safe method including rubbing vitamin E from the pills with a pin prick to get the oil out to rubbing banana peels on my skin. I've even heard of Flax Seed oil (must be refrigerated kind) taken orally.(God awful taste)
Good luck and remember...things happen for a reason...think positively.
